Clarity is not the same as simplicity
Simplicity removes. Clarity reveals.
A simple interface might hide complexity behind a clean surface — and leave the user more confused when reality breaks through. A clear interface tells the truth about what’s happening, even if that truth requires more words, more steps, or more visible structure.
In high-stakes products, clarity almost always wins. Users in uncertain situations don’t need fewer things on screen. They need to understand what they’re looking at.
The goal isn’t minimalism. It’s legibility.
